Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Opens New England Route to AFC East Lead - Highlights of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many people into the National Football League
That result may have opened things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to arrange a monster clash next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs last week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the final quarter - yes the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was still a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's top offences
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An interception in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into seven points just later
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Allen trying to overcompensate to rescue his squad from the situation - not the calm, disciplined, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have demonstrated a varied performances this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're among three eight and two squads in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the best?
You can find flaws in the Patriots, Denver and the Colts really for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Denver
Denver defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was significant
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely earns point for courage after taking some hard tackles in Tampa Bay but hanging in there to guide his side to victory
The defense is solid and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth different runner to break 22 miles per hour this season on his first score
While you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favorites to end with the top record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also compete for top seed but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Indianapolis also play the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There's a considerable distance to go but the door is available for a shock top seed in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who both put up forty points to go to 7-2 before next week's major game between the pair in Los Angeles
Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a contest
Each could realistically be undefeated as well - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in overtime against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning kick with the last kick deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before falling to the final play of the game against the Buccaneers - so they are truly among the best sides in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Germany - running for 244 yards, scoring three scores and contributing another 42 {receiving yards
