Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has announced a disaster situation - the threshold of which involves numerous deaths, widespread structural damage, and disruption to means of livelihoods and everyday existence for people in the affected areas.
The weather system, called in the region Tino, tore through the densely inhabited island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and washing automobiles along avenues.
Many thousands of people were forced to evacuate, others are resting in emergency shelters.

Disaster personnel have begun work while evacuated residents take cover in designated safe areas.
