Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
