Salah Issues Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad after the fallout from his recent interview.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and claiming his connection to the head coach had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also implied that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the situation. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and securing victories.”
