Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage features live text for the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available on select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the NFL season , after last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests were the number of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.

But it proved good to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to have that deficit before direct three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They executed effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing extra defenders but they might plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, we said on a program that Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big and new RB their rusher is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

I love that the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in favourable situations.

This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.

His strengths include his mobility, being able to throw while moving, as well as using different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

When you constantly rush it consumes the clock and forces the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the field downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

The head coach has won a championship and has passed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him what he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Right now, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working better than most, that's a solid position to hold their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.

Ever since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers in five outings, which is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
